Happy Mum Happy Baby: LIVE!

When I wrote Happy Mum, Happy Baby, I wasn’t sure what the reaction would be. But the response was astounding. On the book tour I stopped at many places around the UK for Q&As and saw just how wide spread the desire for honesty is within parenthood, especially thanks to picture perfect, carefully filtered, families on Instagram. There’s so much expectation and judgement - largely from ourselves - that we can often end up feeling like we’re the only ones getting it wrong. But we aren’t. The truth is none of us really know what we’re doing, and the important thing is giving yourself the space and confidence to find a way that works for you.

After the book tour I wanted the conversation to continue. I didn’t want to just stop there. So, the podcast was born. A place for others to share their highs and lows of parenting, allowing the listener to hear dozens of different accounts of parenthood. Highlighting the fact that it doesn’t matter who you are, what you have or what you do - we’re all facing the same feelings of judgement and guilt.

Being in the studio to have these chats has been great, but now it’s time to go back to being live! HAPPY MUM, HAPPY BABY: LIVE will be an extension of everything that’s come before it, but with more guests to hear from. We’ll be talking about the relationships with our bodies post children, how loving your body has a huge part to play on your maternal mental health and how having children changes your perspective on what’s important in life as we juggle with expectation vs. reality.

I hope parents will come out feeling empowered knowing they really aren’t on their own!
