Hello, I’m Giovanna. I’m 33 years old, have two boys, Buzz, 4, Buddy, 2, and am pregnant with our third child. I’m married to a rather lovely man called Tom who I met on my first day at school 20 years ago. It seems we can’t get rid of each other.
I’ve had many jobs, from being the ‘bucket girl’ in my local florist (slimy flowers really stink) to writing book reviews for Heat magazine (seeing as I’m an avid reader this was my dream job). In 2011, after an inspiring chat with Dorothy Koomson, I decided to start writing my own fiction. A year later I signed a book deal with Penguin and then, in 2013, Billy and Me was published. Since then I’ve added You’re The One That I Want, Christmas with Billy and Me
(novella), Dream a Little Dream, Dream a Little Christmas Dream
(novella), Always With Love and Some Kind of Wonderful to my fiction list.
I’ve also ventured into non-fiction with Happy Mum, Happy Baby: My Adventures into Motherhood – something I completely loved doing. In fact, I loved it so much I decided to launch a podcast of the same name, where I invite other people on to give their honest accounts of parenthood. It’s been amazing to have people share and highlight the fact that we all parent in different ways and that we’re all making it up as we go along. The podcast is regularly at the top of the charts, and we’ve accumulated over 2million downloads to date.
A few years ago Tom and I decided to combine our skills and pen a trilogy of books – basically we came up with an amazing concept and didn’t want to let it go so had no choice but to work on the project together. The first book Eve of Man was published earlier this year, and we’re now working away on the follow up. It’s an interesting dynamic working with your husband, but luckily we haven’t had too many arguments… yet.
I’m a patron for CoppaFeel! (get to know your babs), an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust (the opportunities they give young people are incredible), and also work closely with Tommy’s and Save the Children.
Aside from this, I vlog, blog, write columns, am a presenter and actress, and love to sing… I think that’s everything!
